The Brief

With our extensive experience in supporting visual artists we worked closely with acclaimed artist, Rebecca Smith at Urban Projections to map her artwork onto the beautiful Historic England, Bolsover Castle.

Commissioned by Dreamy Places for Bright Winter Nights, a festival created by Junction Arts, Rebecca created a visual masterpiece – In Full Colour, in collaboration with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, the artwork reflects their stories, experiences and creativity.

Our role was to source high-quality projectors of which we used two, providing 25,000 lumens each, ensuring a bright and clear 4k resolution was projected onto the castle wall as well as a robust playback system, power supply and PA to creative an immersive and faultless experience.

To complement the artwork we used 16 IP rated moving lights to illuminate the surrounding castle walls. These lights were synced to the music and moved and changed inline with the artwork itself.

There are some challenges to working in historical, listed buildings and getting two large and heavy projectors up a small staircase was definitely one of them however our team has worked in a variety of spaces and venues and problem solving is our forte.
